Licensed Child Care Centres

Macaulay child care centres make a difference in children’s lives because

  • we understand that each child is unique and important

  • we encourage children to become independent, responsible, and confident

  • we support children to become active learners, with staff as their guides

  • we provide activities that promote and enhance physical, social, emotional, language and intellectual development.

Our Program

We offer stimulating, high quality care and education to children 18 months to 10 years. Qualified staff members encourage children to develop problem-solving skills, creativity, a sense of responsibility, independence and a positive sense of self worth. Our centres offer stimulating play activities that are organized into interest areas such as blocks, art activities, sand-and-water area, and outdoor play. Consistent daily routines help children feel safe and secure and include opportunities for them to plan their own activities.

We incorporate the well-researched High/Scope  approach in all our activities to teach children to make choices as they learn and to follow through on their plans and decisions. We use the Second Step  anti-bullying program to build self-esteem and prepare children to regulate their emotions, solves problems and resolve conflicts.

Our programs meet and exceed all requirements of the Day Nurseries Act and the City of Toronto Operating Criteria.

Our Child Care Centres

The staff at our child care centres include a Supervisor, Early Childhood Education Teachers and Assistant Teachers, a Cook or Kitchen Assistant, and a Caretaker. A Resource Teacher provides extra support to children with special needs at all of our childcare sites. Students and volunteers enrich our programs! Learn more about our staff

We serve two nutritious snacks and a mid-day meal to children in our full-day programs. We provide individualized menus for infants and accommodate children who have food restrictions or allergies. Learn more about Snacks and Meals
