Did you know that a child’s knowledge of songs and rhymes at age 3 is a predictor of her ability to read at age 6? This is just one example of how a child’s early experiences right from birth help her to develop the literacy skills needed to be successful in school and life.

Macaulay Child Development Centre is the host agency for the Ontario Early Years Early Literacy Specialists in Toronto.

Early Literacy Specialists provide education and resources to parents/caregivers, Ontario Early Years Centres and community organizations to strengthen, support and promote literacy-rich environments for children newborn to age six.
